At Nixa Taekwondo Academy, we uphold the timeless tenets of taekwondo—courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit—to foster a respectful, disciplined, and inclusive environment. These principles guide our students, instructors, and community as we grow together in skill, character, and unity.
Respect Your Instructors: Address all instructors and black belts as Sir, Ma’am, Mr., or Mrs. followed by their last name, honoring their knowledge and experience.
Respect Your Peers: Encourage and uplift fellow students, regardless of rank or skill level, fostering a positive training environment.
Respect the Dojang:
Remove all footwear before stepping onto the workout floor to keep the mats clean.
Bow before entering or exiting the mat area as a sign of respect for the training space.
Refrain from bringing food or beverages onto the mats to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Avoid horseplay or disruptive behavior, reflecting discipline and focus.
Respect Yourself: Maintain personal hygiene and care for your uniform, showing pride in your training.
Be Truthful: Speak honestly and act with integrity in all interactions, both in and out of the dojang.
Honor Commitments: Arrive on time for classes, training sessions, and academy events, demonstrating reliability.
Admit Mistakes: Own your errors, learn from them, and strive to improve without excuses.
Represent the Academy: Uphold Nixa Taekwondo Academy’s values in the community, acting as a positive ambassador for our school.
Take Ownership: Be responsible for your training, progress, and attitude, knowing that your effort shapes your growth.
Embrace Challenges: View difficulties and setbacks as opportunities to build perseverance and resilience.
Practice Self-Control: Exercise discipline in your actions and emotions, both during training and in daily life.
Prioritize Safety: Train with proper technique and care, respecting your body and your training partners’ well-being.
No Tolerance for Violence: Taekwondo is about self-discipline, not aggression. Skills learned in the dojang are for self-defense only, to be used responsibly in extreme situations.
Report Concerns: Immediately inform instructors of any unsafe behavior or concerns to maintain a secure environment.
Support Your Peers: Actively encourage and mentor fellow students, fostering a sense of unity within the academy.
Engage in Community: Participate in academy events and local initiatives, contributing to a stronger Nixa community.
Be a Role Model: Embody our tenets in and out of the dojang, inspiring others through your actions and leadership.
By embracing this Code of Ethics, we create a community where every student can thrive as a martial artist and a person. Together, we strive to live these principles daily, building character, strengthening our community, and honoring the spirit of taekwondo
